Probe International Fellow

  Dai Qing - investigative journalist

Probe International Fellow Dai Qing is the daughter of a revolutionary martyr, adopted by a famous marshal and trained at an elite military academy. She was employed first as a missile technician than as an agent for military intelligence before becoming a columnist with the most devoted following at one of China's largest daily newspapers. For her activism, Dai was imprisoned for a time at the infamous Qincheng prison following the protests at Tiananmen. However, she went on to become a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, as well as a fellow of the Freedom Forum at Columbia University's School of Journalism.

Dai is the author of Yangtze! Yangtze! and The River Dragon Has Come: The Three Gorges Dam and the Fate of China's Yangtze River and Its People.
